    Verification Needed

    Folks,

    I posted this about a week ago...still no reply. I can't find the answer in the archives and I'm sure someone out there can answer this for me...

    I need a a little verification on placement of my valve cover decal. My car is a 58 with a base engine. I have the "230" decal. My valve covers are the stamped steel covers painted engine color. My understanding is that decal goes only on the outboard side of the right side valve cover only. No decal on the left hand cover or on the inboard side of the right hand cover. It should be centered for and aft and on the the rounded edge of the cover. Is this correct? If not, please set me straight.

      James, I have a base motor 62 and that is the way I placed my 250 hp decal. I believe you are correct.

          I am reading about this in the Corvette Restoration & Technical Guide Vol. 1 on page 404.
          "The base 230 hp engine had orange painted valve covers; the 230 decal was gold in color, for contrast. The optional engines had finned aluminum covers; the decals for these were Chevy orange, centered between the hold-down bolts on the top slope of the cover, three-eighths of an inch down from the outer aluminum rib (or stamped ridge on the 230 painted cover)."

                  just got done helping judge at the rocky mtn chapter. We had a 58 with decal only on the passanger side. Believe to be verified in the JM.

                      Jim, glad your post was answered.

                      You may get a faster response on future posts if your subject line is more descriptive of the question you are asking. "Verification Requested" covers a multitude of scenarios whereas something like "Valve Cover Decal" or "Decal Placement" and use of the model year icon may have created more interest.
