Missing Vin Plate - 1960 Corvette

I am missing a VIN plate that should be on the L/F door post. It is an early S/N car. There is not a VIN tag spot welded on the lower steering column. There is, however a correct VIN# stamped on the R/F top of he frame under the exhaust manifold.

Does anyone know of a source for a proper VIN tag to install on the door post? Is it legal? Any reason for the frame stamp?

the frames were not vin stamped under the exhaust manifold. they were stamped on the drivers top side about where your left buttock would be located should you be seated in the vette. i'd make sure the frame(at the factory stamp location i mentioned previously) and the title have matching vin #'s before proceeding. replacement vin plates are available. mike
