Love the big block, but am concerned about fun-robbing sweltering heat driving a 454 vert in the summer...

I have had both and the 73 I had was geared with a close ratio trans. and a 3.36. It had no gear that was good in town 20-30 MPH. I said it loped along but it did have the big block feel on the road. A high screaming 350 is my choice and a convertible is the only way to go.

IMHO, nothing beats a Vette with some sort of badging on the hood or fenders describing the power plant. In 68 I remember being at the local Sweet Shop (candy store) seeing the Hot Rod magazine cover with the blue 427 on the cover and saying " Some day, I going to have one of those".

          Hi,
          71, 350/270.
You have to love AND feel sorry for an engine that's this pretty but can hardly get out of it's own way!
          Regards,
          Alan

            Glen,

By the date of your original post, have you done anything yet?

If not, I would suggest that you find some of each and drive them. Then buy the one which you like best. The only way to find out which one you ultimately prefer is to live with it a while. If you don't like the one you buy, you can always sell it and buy the other.

One more thing, cars that have special features (like big block Corvettes) tend to appreciate at a faster rate than plain Jane examples of the same brand.
