I am redoing a 67 vette, red with a black int. and I am painting the dash tabs, It lookes like the tabs were painted red the rivits look like there was black on them ? Were they black or painted red? Thanks

Don, original attaching rivets were all black anodized or zinc not sure which but they were a shiney black. That way if they did not get painted for a matching interior/exterior car they would not rust or stand out like silver rivets would.
A red exterior with a black interior car will have red painted dash tabs and rivets.

Nope. The "tabs" on the ends of the instrument panel were painted exterior color (on cars with contrasting interior/exterior colors) after masking off the ends of the eyebrow pads in Final Paint Repair, after the car came off the Final Line. On cars with matching interior/exterior colors, there was no secondary painting required, so the "tab" rivets on those cars are their original black oxide finish.- Top
