    Lifting Bracket on intake

1969 350/300 hp. Where is the rear engine lifting bracket located. Also can a small block have the lifting bracket that is held down by two front bolts instead of the single second bolt, I saw one this way. The book says this is for BB.

thanks, so far all is going well

Rear lifting bracket is only on manual transmission equipped engines -- St Louis removed it for M40. It attaches to the top of the two in-line bell housing to engine bolts. There was an earlier thread on the early C3 engine lifting brackets that was quite thorough.

1971 and newer small block had the front (intake) lifting bracket attached with two bolts. That too is covered int he above referenced thread from the past.

      Hi Cal,
I have a picture that shows the 71 sb front lifting bracket. The picture was taken in celebration of the return of the original q-jet after it had spent 38+ years waiting in the box that the very 'in' Holley Spreadbore had come in.
      Hope this helps you!
      Regards,
      Alan

I can post a picture of my 1970. It will be the same as a 1969 -- single bolt mount. They are available in reproduction also. Just say the word and I will put up mine, but the aluminum intake might put you off.

I can't imagine how a 1969 would get a two-bolt lift bracket at the engine plant, given that those two-bolt brackets didn't exist at that time.
