Don, not correct. Do you have the crank spacer behind the harmonic balancer? Assume the water pump was assembled correctly in reference to hub to flange distance? Lots in archives about water pump measurements.

Has the engine been rebuilt? Hardly any rebuilders (except early Corvette specialists) know that C1's require the 1/8"-thick spacer ring between the harmonic damper and the face of the crank sprocket (to move the damper forward by the thickness of the engine mount bracket).- Top

Re: Early '58 Pulley alignment (Harmonic to Water Pump)
John, Yes - the engine was rebuilt by the prior owner. It currently has a '59 Tonawanda block 3756519. Apparently, the original block cracked due to long-term storage and the engine was replaced with a period correct block. From your response - is there supposed to be a spacer on the back side (block side) of the harmonic balancer that is 1/8" thick?

Re: Early '58 Pulley alignment (Harmonic to Water Pump)
Wayne - Thank you for the table. I measured the block mating surface to the pulley mounting surface and it is at 5 3/4", which is 1/16" over. I will be having the water pump rebuilt so this will solve at least 1/16" of the gap. Thank you again. Don

Yes, there is - it goes between the crank sprocket and the block end of the balancer; Paragon has them - photo below.Attached Files- Top
