    Gary, you should be able to have those threads repaired by a competent machinist. They can install a heli-coil and you can reuse your bowl.

          Rich --- Gary is having problems with his float valve / seat, not the acorn nut.

          However, I see BB is making extended thread brass bowl inlet nuts for damaged threads, as well as having the regular brass nuts.

          Per '65 TIM&JG, brass inlet nuts were replaced by steel on May 17th, 1965.

            thanks for setting me straight .

            Gary, as Dick said they can be repaired. I have had many float threads repaired by carb rebuilers.

              It is not hard if you have the tools. We repaired quite a few when we had the shop open.

                Thanks Guys, I'll try the helicoil before I try to find a new bowl.
                Thats interesting about the longer brass nuts being available and will keep it in mind in case I need some in the future. The build date on my engine is 10 May so the brass nuts are correct.
