    1967 Soft top color

I just bought a 1967 with a tan top. In looking at the options available in 1967, I see they were black, white and teal blue tops available.

The car is supposed to be Marlboro Marron and it has a saddle interior. I'm kind of suprised that tan was not an option in 1967. Am I missing something?

    Thanks

No you are not missing anything......tan was not offered for 1967 and was replaced by teal.

FWIW: I also have a 1967 Marlboro Maroon car with a tan top and saddle interior. Looks sweet. However, my tank sticker says the car was born with a black top. When I bought it in 1994 the owner had changed it to white. But tan looks the best in my opinion.

Keep it the way you have it and enjoy the car.

Count me three, my Marlboro Maroon saddle interior 67 also has a tan top. You wonder "What the hell were they thinking back in 67 NOT to offer tan/saddle as a top color in 67!!" I know they couldn't have offered every interior color but apparently the color coded department didn't hold up any color samples or they would have seen the obvious. Since my tank sticker is long gone I have no idea what it came out with. All though I enjoy it as a driver I have been restoring it in hopes of getting it judged. That is one area I'm torn about spending the extra $$ to trade for points. As mentioned before the tan top looks so darn good it's probably best to just drive it and keep getting compliments about how sharp it is. Just wondering, mine is Vin #7091 (December car) what about you guys? Shooter

I think it is fair to say that your original top was not one of the "rare" teal ones.

Since my car has both tops, I have the flexibility to install the hardtop for judging. But if I didn't, I still would not change the top color, and would take the points hit. But that's me. My car is VIN 14,845....late March build.

Thanks everyone. I like the Tan the best. My tank sticker says Black, but it is staying Tan. My car was built Feb 8th with a number of 10,270

When I bought my '67 back in 1980, I didn't hesitate to replace the white top with a tan one from Al Knoch. I took the points hit but the car still got Top Flight. The first top lasted about 15 years before I replaced it with the same.
