    Deck Lid Bumpers 68 CV

I asked member John Carlson a question concerning the rear deck lid bumpers that push down on the convertible top frame so the deck lid doesn't slam on it. John said his 68 didn't have them but his 69 did. My car is a 68 F-15 and I am now wondering if my car should have the bumpers or not. My original question to john was whether the bolts securing the bumpers to the deck lid were natural or painted as well as the head markings on the bolts. Thanks.

My Dec 67 car does not have them and has no evidence of ever having them. I think they where added around Mar of 68

The aim shows the bumper asm at the end of the year but it was a running change so I don't know when the original deck lip drawing was riped out and replaced with this drawing? Page H110/H111.

Thanks again William. My restorer still has my car so I'm not sure if the deck lid is original to the car. There was a "small" problem with the deck lid when the restoration was started.................some nitwit mudded it permanently closed. I don't remember if the chopping it apart process rendered the deck lid unusable. I'll find out tomorrow.

            Bill,

I would be happy to look up the deck lid information for Don -- but knowing which page to look at would speed my search. Unfortunately not all of us have a 1968 AIM from a supplier who numbered the pages as you have cited. In fact Chevrolet didn't number pages that way, and different suppliers (yes, there has been more than one AIM supplier to the hobby) used different numbering systems.

If you or Don would post the UPC number and Sheet number I will look for the change date in my copy of the 1968 AIM -- of course that will not tell us when the change was made on the line, it will only tell us when the paperwork was accomplished.

Thanks for the help Terry. I had the same problem this morning talking to my restorer. He also had a different AIM and the pages that Bill cited were something else.

Thank you Bill. Allowing me to go directly to right pages saves me a lot of time looking in an unfamiliar area.

UPC1, Sheet F7: View D was added on what looks like 3-21-68. It is very hard to read the date because the drawing is not real clear.

My 68 convertible, trim tag date G16 (February 16), has no deck lid bumpers.
