Mike - I read your Posting as the DILL Valve Cap as one of the ones Wayne posted a picture of is the only acceptable Valve Cap for NCRS Judging. Do you have some information to share that supports that? Thanks, Pete

Which one would be for a 62? Thank you. Joe

You guys just killed the flea market for the dills, maybe they'll be able to sell pickles instead

            Hi Peter,
            Apparently some confusion.
My comment was in response to Waynes question "What do Judges EXPECT to see".
The "only" was referencing the two embosses limited to the "Dill" and the "627", meaning not to include the embossing at the 3:00 position which has not been observed on TFP Mid-Year caps.
Would some Judges deduct for this added marking? Since they are probably just looking for the "Dill" and the "627" per the JG, perhaps not.

Ron -- but look at the positive side; it's just opened up a business opportunity on eBay. Imagine, a set of five dated caps [show close-up photo of one with number/letter, which you imply is year/month]. State that the judges will be looking for this {you don't say whether NCRS, Bloomington or show-and-shine } and let the bidding begin.

One of you tricksters should try this. Often I see topics discussed on this board that immediately result in some item being posted on eBay with authoritative description.

                Wayne,

Yes that is true, there are more than one seller that are also participants on this board.

Mike - Greetings from the Land of Enchantment. Thanks for the clarification. Since I have seen the Schrader valve caps on several original mid-year spare tires (I have one) and I have no reason to believe these are not original, I didn't want to get deducted because mine didn't have a DILL 627. Schrader cap; is a photo possible?

                    Pete,

Any chance you could post a nice close-up image of your mid-year Schrader cap? I'd like to add such a photo to my new judging guide so that I can give full credit when judging if I see the correct non-Dill cap.

                      This is the "real deal."

John - Great, we saved another original part.
                          I feel much better.

As Jimmy Buffet said " a pickle "DILL."" I'm sure
Jimmy used Schrader valve stem caps.

What is the VIN of your car with the Schraders?

The '67 judging manual just says the valve stem cap is hard black plastic. Does it matter for points if it is a Dill or a Schrader?
