67 fuel overflow hose strap HELP

Hi there. I have installed the spring in the fuel overflow hose on my 67, however I see in the assembly manual that there is supposed to be a "clip" or "strap" that holds it to the body. It appears that it is attached to the rear bumper bracket, but what type of strap or clip holds it?? Is it the same type of T-strap aka black tie that holds the wiring to the hood cable in the engine bay? Any help would be appreciated as I want to do it right. Thanks in advance for any all all assistance. Regards. ARA

Ara, in 64 AIM it's the same part number as the hood cable strap, white instead of black for 64. Assume 67 same part etc.

Thaks for the reply Dan. Appreciate it. I am glad that's the case, as I have a bunch of extra, original black T straps that are thankfully pliable and good. Again, thanks.

Ara, yes it is the same T-style strap that holds the wiring harness down up near the firewall. I TRIED to get one of those T-style straps on my fuel overflow hose and couldn't do it. I gave up and just strapped it around the hose itself. The idea is to strap the hose to the bumper support rod, but the T-style strap you get from Long Island is too short.

Let me know how you make out.

Dr. Rebuild has the soft pliable T straps.

Re: 67 fuel overflow hose strap HELP

Thank you for all you replies, ONE more question. Does the fuel overflow hose get routed through the rear valance and cup inside the recess of the lower portion of the bumper and be on the outside of the car or does it remain on the inside of the rear valance? I am perplexed? The manual is not clear. I think it goes through the valance and cups inside the recess of the rear bumper, but I don't know. Can anyone let me know? Thanks. ARA
When I figure out how it is routed, I can let you know if the original T straps are long enough to wrap the fuel line to the inner brace. Thanks ARA

              Ara,

the hose sneaks out through the space between the rear body panel and valance. The hose routes behind the welded in nut plate and stops 1/2" from the end of the bumper. If you have a hard time fishing the hose out bend the end of a coat hanger to snag the hose and pull it through.

Chris. Did you save any of your original straps?

No I don't know what I did with them. Must have either thrown them away or they broke when I took them off.

The original strap used underhood is definitely long enough to capture both the hose and brace with strap to spare. I found some in the junk yard in other vintage Chevy cars.

Brian, I called Dr. Rebuild, and they have a $16 shipping and handling charge on all orders under $20.

Does anyone have two extra of the original soft plyable style T straps they can drop in an envelope for me and mail? Dr. Rebuild seems unwilling to help a potential customer.

Thanks to all for the advice. I was able to get the house routed correctly. Also, as stated in some replies, the original black T straps are plenty long enough to wrap around the hose AND the bracket. Doug, GREAT shots of an unrestored fuel overflow hose...thanks to all....that's one more thing off the list on my way to my Regional....Can't wait. thanks again. ARA
