    Hardtop and Softop Mounting Holes

At what point in manufacture were the hardtop and softop mounting holes put in the panel for '56-'62?

    Thanks,
    Steve

    Steve -

I can't document it, but I believe it followed the same pattern as the midyears; they had two part numbers of top compartment lids - one with the soft top latch holes cut from the supplier, and one without, and the hardtop attaching holes were added at St. Louis as required.

Thanks John! IIRC Noland's book says there is the possbility of some cars sent to California without hardtop or softop mounting hardware and holes. 'Any insight on this?

      Thanks!

Nope. That's a LONG trip on an open rail car with no top; can't imagine that happening unless they were special-ordered with no tops and picked up at the plant.
