    I Just Do Not Understand........

....how people can use "NCRS" in their Ebay ads, with statements to the unaware that a April 28 1960 over the counter replacement 3959532 engine block is correct for a 1959 and a 1960 "for sure", and "very well could pass ncrs judging if used in a 1958 or 1957 Corvette".

    What are they Thinking!!!!!!

P.T. Barnum understood it, but contrary to popular belief, he never said it: "There's a sucker born every minute". One of our (NCRS) biggest contributions to the hobby is teaching people dabbling in Corvettes not to be naive victims. The dues are cheap compared to the cost of ignorance.

Amen, brother. A couple of months ago I spent over two hours on the phone trying to "educate" my cousin on a Vette he was looking at. The conversation ended with him finally understanding that it's not like buying a normal used car.

How would an engine case (supposedly) cast in 1960 have a pad with a CE code on it?

Good point. I am unsure when the CE blocks started. Could this be a 1970 350? The 395xxxx Corvette engine cast numbers started around 69?

According to Mortec the casting number is for a '64 283 2 bbl engine. Also listed it as being used as CE engines.

                Not bloody likely.

The Information Bulletins telling dealers about the replacement engine and transmission stamps are dated 1968, and allude to a Georgia state law designed to deter theft as a reason.

That's a "CE" replacement block, cast in 1970, not "correct" for ANY Corvette; I sent him a "nice note". Bet he doesn't post it.

Ken, that's a half scale FI unit, most commonly expressed as 1/2. Very rare indeed. Didn't win much support as it put out half scale power. I read this on the internet so I know it to be true.
                      Best regards,

                        Richard,

another even more GLARING problem is the use of NOS for identifying parts that are really NORS!
