    Hi Pat

Your post refers to your agreed value policy and the other poster with questions about state farm referred to his stated value policy. Two different animals. Sound like you are good. As for seeing em in court, you probably will never have to, I sure hope so. I am sure you know who wins in those types of situations, it is almost always only the lawyers that benefit.

    Regards

    Gary

Hi Gary. You're right, I had not realized the earlier posts centered on stated value.

I'd also rather not have to see 'em in court, but if I do, and only the lawyers benefit, then I can't lose - since I am a lawyer!

Then you are set, your legal resources will be as deep as the big co!! My wife is a lawyer as well, but somehow it always seems like the system wins and real relief is fleeting at best.

          Chris -

There's a HUGE difference between "stated value" and "agreed value" coverage; two completely different arrangements in terms of total loss payout. If you really have "stated value" coverage, you're seriously under-insured.

State Farm doesn't write "agreed value" policies in many states - only "stated value", which is no different than the ordinary automobile policy you have on your daily drivers. Pat Moresi apparently lives in one of the states where they DO write "agreed value" coverage, which his endorsement makes very clear:

"you and we agree that the actual cash value of your car is the vehicle value shown on the Declarations Page unless: (the car is damaged, has parts removed, or is abused after the initial value is agreed to and prior to the loss)."

"Stated Value" coverage only protects the insurance company, not the policyholder.

When I had my daily drivers with State Farm, I asked my Agent if State Farm would add my Corvetes to the policy on an "agreed value" basis. He said "sure" but later came back and said sorry, can't do. Perhaps they do not write "agreed value" policies in Texas.

                Best regards,

I have been a State Farm customer for years. When ever I had an issue they were very good about taking care of it. When I inquired about "agreed value " they said they only offered "stated value". I stayed with them for my daily drivers and switched to Haggerty for the corvette.
