I have had good luck with Long island Corvette both with quality and getting the parts promptly. They always seem to have parts in stock whereas others do not.

        Re: Reproduction Parts

Unfortunately no one company manufactures/sells the best parts. Long Island, Corvette Central, Keen, Trim Parts, Joe Ray, on and on each have good parts. But each retailer buys some of his parts from another. When we had our Corvette parts business, we purchased parts from over 400 different vendors, a lot of them you have never heard of. Some make only one or two pieces, some manufacture hundreds of parts.

          Re: Reproduction Parts

I just completed the restoration on my 67.

If you can recondition your ORIGINAL part, you'll be much better off from a judging standpoint.

VERY, VERY few of the repop parts I have purchased are close enough to the original. To most, they're the same. The experienced eye of a judge, they're not.

Depends on what you want to do with your car and if you plan on judging it. I can say that most judges appreciate seeing original parts.

That being said, I bought almost everything for my car through either Long Island or Paragon. I had good luck with both suppliers.

              Phil,

Bottom line, each time you're parts hunting, search the archives and / or post your question here. You're sure to get lots of help!

              Good luck,
              Joe

                Phil,

One word of advice is that you have to ask if the part is NCRS if 100% accurate restoration is your intent. As many have indicated, you won't find all your parts in one place, and a restored used original will be better that the repop as many a part is NOT reproduced accurately, even though some of the above named vendors will state is as such.

Given that, there are sone things that did not last, for example rubber disintegrates. There won't be one piece of rubber on your car that is not rotted if it was on planet earth, ie not is a nitrogen chamber. You will need to get new stuff and I have had bad experience getting parts that look even close to the original at 20 feet away. It depends on the supplier and what parts you are looking to get. Even NOS rubber is old and will fall apart quickly.

Who would you recommend to buy the door seals, dust shields etc from?
I've asked this question on the forum and got no responce in the recent past.

That is a 6 million dollar question. Tonight I will post that question with pictures on the windshield w/s that both know suppliers make a part so far off the original I cannot believe this group is not clamoring for a better part.

As far as quality is concerned, I've been happy with rubber items from CRC(Corvette Rubber Company). Recently used their door vent window seals on a 63 & a rear window seal on a 72. All purchased through Zip Corvette in VA.

                        Hi Michael,
How are you? Great spring morning here!
I'll second Rich's suggestion of Corvette Rubber Company.
                        Regards,

There are issues with all suppliers if they do not match the original, depends upon what you are looking to do and what year car.
