I recently removed one of my headlight buckets (I rebuild both but wanted to do them one at a time). The car sat for more than 20 years, so the bearings were frozen on the pivot shafts. I felt that I needed to replace the bearings so I tried penetrating oil and heated them but couldn't remove the bearings
I finally used a cutting disk and cut the bearings off the shafts. Unfortunately I also took a chunk out of one of the shafts. I was more careful with the other end and managed to remove that bearing without damaging the shaft.
My question is, does the bearing turn on the shaft or does the only movement occur between the outer circumfrence of the bearing and the pivot support?
Thanks
