Re: 69 conv. under dash support braces

I just found something interesting in my 69 AIM concerning the under dash brace rods. I know there has been a lot of discussion about these braces but I thought this might shed some more light on the subject. My car which is a big block convertible has all the braces (total of 3) except the two small braces in the upper left corner on the drivers side. While studying my AIM UPC C60 sheet A9 I noticed that these two braces I am concerned about are labeled "PROD BRACE RODS", they are not listed in the parts list for this page and do not have a diagram number assigned to them. Could these be temporary braces that were only used during the assemble of the car? If so maybe I do not need to be concerned about them missing from my car. Thanks for reading.

Parts labeled as "PROD" are install on all cars as part of the base configuration. They aren't called out in the C60 section of the AIM as they are not part of that specific configuration. You should find them somewhere else in the AIM.

Re: 69 conv. under dash support braces

Thanks John I am learning a lot. I did find them on another page UPC 1 Bolt Weld, Sheet A9. There they are numbers and all, so I can assume these two braces numbered 1 and 9 should be a part of my car and I need to find me some to make my car stronger. Do you know where I might get them? Someone told me of a source some time back. I had their email address but have since lost it. I should have acted sooner and maybe I would have this issue solved by now. Thanks again to all the good folks who have provided me with information on this subject. I will let everyone know when I get these braces installed.

I'm not real sure where you can find the braces, they are not being reproduced. I have seen the braces for sale on EBAY occasionally in the past. I would start by checking there.

Thanks Edward, looks like I got there too late someone else bought the set of 5 braces. I sent the guy an email just in case the deal fell through. Maybe I will get lucky. I only need the two small braces in the upper left hand corner. I believe I can make them if I do not find any. Thanks again for your assistance.

Yeah, about an hour after I made my post someone scooped them up! But all isn't lost Tom. Give my buddy Steve a call. He owns SOCAL VETTES (San Diego area), and has been selling nothing but C3 parts for over 25 years and at VERY reasonable prices. His phone number is 619-210-4444. He's closed until Tuesday (09-02), but go ahead and leave a message anyway. Tell him LTJG sent you!!
