    Replacing 69 Evaporator Core

Sorry for another dumb question or two...
Previously I asked if anyone had ideas for where I might find a top quality replacement evaporator. I forgot to ask a couple more questions.
    1. I have removed the evaporator box from the firewall leaving the blower motor section intact. The fiberglass box section appears to be sealed to the firewall with a black sticky calk of some kind. I ordered a seal kit from Dr. Rebuild and in it came a thin, flat pad of calking substance which is white. It appears you cut out strips of this and use it as the seal for the box to the firewall. It looks nothing like what I cleaned off the firewall.
Does anyone know what GM used for this purpose and where I might locate it.
    2. The POA valve is pretty ugly. I am having a heck of a time locating a new or overhauled unit as most companies recommend the new suction throttling unit. Although I'm sure it will perform better I am trying to keep this system accurate. Anyone have ideas on finding a restored condition POA valve?
Thanks for any ideas you may have!

    Brad:

For the POA, call Classic Auto Air in Florida, Old Air Products in Dallas/Fort Worth Texas, or go to E-bay and search for POA. Then search for PaceCarJeff. He sells a lot on Ebay/Ebay Stores and is also a NCRS member.

Google the business names above for webpage and phone numbers......or do a search in the archives under their names or under my name. You will find the info and phone numbers you need. This has been discussed many times...you are not the first to ask.
