C1 door weatherstripping installation

The last door weatherstripping installation I did (a '61) did not come out as good as hoped (I could not get the weatherstripping to lay down completing in the turns).

I am now doing a '57. Is it worth the added difficulty to remove the doors to install the weatherstripping or is reinstalling and adjusting the doors too tricky to warrant removal.

What about the truck and convertible deck lid? Should I remove them before installing the weatherstripping.

Personally I would NOT remove anything for weatherstrip installation. Makes for lots of work and possible problems. It is sometimes necessary (especially with aftermarket weatherstripping) to use a LOT of masking tape to hold the weatherstrips in place until the adhesive dries completely. I like to use 2" tape.

al knoch sells an applicator for weatherstrip cement. it looks like an old fashioned oil can pump and comes with a stiff nylon brush on the end of the discharge pipe. no more mis-application of the cement. i really like the cement he also sells. mike
