    Tire date help..

I would appreciate some help dating this tire. It's a RWL, Firestone, Wide Oval, Super Sport, Nylon Cord, F70-15, with 9 tread ribs, the small white tag is still on the tire. Everything I'm reading says that the last three numbers represent the date..week of the year then the year...680 ???

Can I get a rubber stamp for replying to tire date code requests?

Everything you are reading is for the federally mandated code that came into use in the first quarter of 1971. Your tire is older than that and the only older, proprietary, date codes that have been released to the public are for Goodyear tires. You are SOOL.

Dear Terry, as always, I appreciate your spot on answers. If you would like to order the rubber stamp I would be more than happy to pick up the tab. In the meantime I will try to find a readable Goodyear tire. As always it's been a business doing pleasure with you. In closing I think you spelled COOL incorrectly?

        Hi Doug,
The one remaining Firestone RWL from my mid-January built 71 has a code of 000MP123. When do you THINK your tire might be from?
        Regards,

          Alan,

The car is a late Dec. 1970 built 71', that's why I was curious about the date with the last number on the tire stamp being a "0". But according to the "rubber stamp" there is no way to find out for a Firestone tire.

Doug your tire can't be the 68th week of 1970. I lived through that year, and I can only wish it were 68 weeks long -- I might remember more of it that way.

Alan's tire could be the 12th week of 1973, but then it is not likely original to his car.

I suspect both of you would hope your tires are the earlier proprietary code, which so far is unknown. Especially since the benefit of the doubt goes to the owner.
