    Removing 69 T-Top trim

What's the best way to remove the front portion of the stainless trim on the 69 T-Tops? It looks like there are small tabs in the trim that grabs or cuts into the fibeglass underside. I tried lifting these tabs up and pushing the trim forward but it doesn't seem to want to let go and I don't want to wreck them so is there and better way to do this?

    Thanks.

    George,

take a thin but not flimsy metal scraper (just like a spackeling knife) no wider than 1-1/2" - 2". From the top side gently tap the scraper in between the top and moulding. Then very gently pry the scraper up to make space between the top and moulding. Repeat this process very carefully around the moulding. Then try to pull the moulding away from the top. It will start to ease off. Continue this all the way till done. Once removed you can easily close the moulding up by using a wide flanged pair of pliers and tape paint sticks on both sets of jaws. Gently squeeze the moulding back together. If you take your time and are carefull you wont even have to repolish the trim.

          Greg,

You can get an inexpensive set of plastic trim tools from Harbor Freight. As I recall I just worked my way around the trim tapping on the inside edge with one of the straight edged plastic tools. You can certainly use a flat scraper to raise the trim a little at the stakes. It does come straight off the edges.
