Thanks for your positive feedback. The mechanic who last worked on this was an incompetent moron- oh, wait, that was me! For now I will replace the bolts and washers with hardware store grade 8 bolts to be sure all is well. Let's hope that it will go back together easily and we can move on to the next crisis.

Takes a plain washer, lock washer, and the bolt (Per Joe L specs above). Torque should be around 40 ft-lbs.

Paragon and LICS have repros with the correct headmarks.

I just finished installing these in my 1967 a few days ago.

I'd check the threads in the iron using a new bolt of Gr 5 or Gr 8. If they seem good, then you can always use Paragon's repros and if you're worried just use a bit of blue Loctite on them during the install. It is just a bit of "cheap insurance" if you wish.
