    '68 Judging Manual

Third Edition Judging Manual, page 48 - Coil Support: "The coil support bracket is stamped carbon steel, plated zinc or dull silver cadmium. This is held to the intake by two engine - orange bolts inboard and cadmium-plated ones outboard on painted manifolds." My intake is painted, my coil support has only two bolts, one inboard, one outboard. What is the correct finish for these two bolts?

    Re: '68 Judging Manual

    Hi Brian,
I believe the phrase means to imply a total of 2 bolts.
Since you have a painted manifold I'd think the inboard bolt may or may not be plated but with paint over because it was in place when the engine was painted, but the outboard bolt would show it's plating; zinc or cad.
    Regards,
    Alan

PS: As an aside, on my 71 sb the inboard foot of the coil bracket has been cut to allow (I believe) the foot to slip under that painted bolt without backing the bolt out of the manifold. It's difficult to get that bolt completely out with the distributor in place.

You can't always believe that every single thing you read in these manuals is "the truth." It goes on to say for aluminum manifolds the mounting bolts are black oxide. They are not.
