    '71 Exhaust System Recommendation

I'll soon be putting a new exhaust system (from the end of the manifold to the tip on each side) for my '71 base engine, automatic transmission car. I want to have this exhaust system to appear and sound as original as possible. Any recommendations on vendors where I can find such a system? Thank you!

Randy, I just installed a Gardner system on my 72 base motor coupe, its about as correct as you'll find, and as for sound its maynot be as factory because of the double wall piping that GM used, But I think you will find it has a great exhaust note. Its also a little more expensive but the fit was great and the pipe bends are as the factory, which is good for judging.

Ditto, Edward! I too have recently installed the Gardner system and found it to be a jewel to install. It's nice to put a system on that has lots of research going into it and practically falls into place. The folks at Gardner were great to work with as well. I have read some negative feedback on this board about Gardner, but my experience with both the product and the service were world class. My recommendation is clear...

I have used one vender for years when I need an exhaust system that fits the first time, sounds right,is affordable, and amazingly is Made in AMERICA. Logans Port ,Indiana to be exact. That vendor is ALLENS.
He also makes a system that looks completely stock, but employs offroad muflflers. They sound throaty yet unoffensive. You'll find if you ask that Allen supplys many of your catalog stores.Allen attends many shows and will deliver. You save freight and tax, what a country.Call him, he will work with you.
