Re: 68 Roadster owners
In my opinion, yes. AC on a 1968 convertible is rare and the power steering and brakes makes it even better. Did you notice if it has tilt/tele or alarm or? It will take some expenses to replace the hood, wiper system, redo the AC system, and the tire tub can be easily found. For $12K it sounds like a good investment. I like the uniqueness of '68s.- Top

Re: 68 Roadster owners
I have a local friend and Corvette owner who found a red/black 1968 convertible with AC for about $14K and did a lot of work on it. it was a matching numbers drive train 327/300 with a black vinyl hardtop. I urged him to sell his 1969 convertible and keep the '68. He sold the '68 for $24K.- Top

Re: 68 Roadster owners
Jim, 68's did not have tilt, but did have telescopic option. Sounds like a nice find with it being a convertible with power brakes, power steering, and air conditioning. How about stereo radio? AC 68's had copper/brass radiators and were larger than the aluminum radiators. If you get the 68's owners manual check out the page about seat belt retractors.- Top

Re: 68 Roadster owners
Jim,
When you look at the car again take a magnet and inspect the frame around the kick ups and trailing arm attachments. I have seen where bondo and paint has been used to conceal frame problems. (I learned that lesson on mine) If you're restoring it back to original, you will need to consider the cost of smog equipment too. The cost for a correct complete system would be somewhere between $1300 to $2000. $12,000 for a solid chrome bumper C-3 sounds like a fair price. Parts for '68's can sometimes be a challenge but half the fun of this hobby is the hunt. You can also consider selling the non correct parts, too to lessen the cost for other parts. Good Luck and let's see some pictures if you buy it.Terry Buchanan

Re: 68 Roadster owners
Hi Jim,
68 Convertible, O.K!!!!
I guess you should try to make an estimate of what you'd HAVE to spend, and then another of what you'd LIKE to spend, on the 68.
Perhaps the HAVE $ you get back if/when you sell it and the LIKE $ are spent for the pleasure of owning/driving a 68 convertible.
Those 2 figures may help you decide what $ YOU can pay for this car.
