Freshly restored C2s in the "polder"

    Hi Friends,

Last weekend the weather was for the first time great in Holland...so we could finally take our trailer queens outside for a ride and a photoshoot in the Polder.

Oh I could not find the translation of the word polder so here is the wiki explanation: The Netherlands is frequently associated with polders. This is illustrated by the English saying: God created the world, but the Dutch created Holland. The Dutch have a long history of reclamation of marshes and fenland, resulting in some 3,000 polders nationwide. About half of all polder surface within northwest Europe is located within the Netherlands. The first polders were constructed in the 11th century.

The cars featured are the Top Flight '63 of Sander and my freshly restored '65.

Both cars have a 327-300 bhp, M21 and N11 setup! RUMBLE IN THE POLDER!

                Hello Michael;
                Nice pictures !
Are the "Polders" below sea(water) level ?
                Pumps running 24/7 ?
                Just curious.
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
                I hope you dance

Jep below sealevel and we have pumps all around in our country to keep the water out so that we can cruise on dry land with our Vettes

all marked blue on this map below would be under water if the pumps fail.

the average height below see level in this erea is 12 feet.

yearly we pump 220 billion gallons of water out of the polders to keep our feet dry

All of those windmills are not for jousting. Many were for pumping water.

It just so happens I was contacted by a Dutch collegue of mine and this is what he had to say about polders:

A polder is a piece of land (usually a meadow, farmland or artificial forest) that used to be water and was 'conquered' from the sea, but still needs to be drained continuesly since it is indeed below sea level. It often gives a characteristic view with small canals, pump installations, wind mills, etc. One of our biggest achievements is the Flevopolder province (with Lelystad as capital) which emerged after the Zuiderzee (Southern Sea) was changed into the IJsselmeer (Lake IJssel) after completing the Afsluitdijk (closure dike) in the north.

That, and I forgot the most important part:
                          Mooie autos!

                            Your colleague's info is right!

The city of Lelystad he is mentioning is the city where the biggest annual classic car venue is held every year and and where the NCRS Dutch Chapter always is present. This year (june 20th) again we will join with a few solid axles and mid years - we will post pics ofcourse of some vettes below sealevel.
