In working through my punchlist of items on my '67 to correct, I came across this one the assembly manual is very vague in showing. The overflow tube that comes from the fuel tank cap area (the one with the spring in it), it is missing a strap/retainer, but I have no idea where the strap goes around the car body/bumper area. I only know the tube comes down the passenger side of the rear license plate area around the car's rear bumper area, so not sure where the end of the tube should be going. Also, is the inside spring supposed to be sticking out a bit, or flush with the end of the tube? Thanks for any help.

Re: Fuel overflow tube questions
Maybe your copy of the '67 AIM is not specific, but my '65 AIM, UPC 8, Sheet B4 gives directions that the spring (called shield) is (to be) "insert(ed) into hose & with lower end even with lower end of hose". Then another note to "end of hose flush to 1/2 inch from edge of bumperette" A third note shows the strap holds the hose to the "bumper inner lower brace".
That pretty well "nails it". My 1967 AIM (older copy) shows the same thing as you described. Mike should now be able to get it installed correctly.

Re: Fuel overflow tube questions
OK, thanks to all for the help. With your descriptions and looking back at my assembly manual I can now make out where it goes. Really an odd placement for this, into the fold at the bottom of the bumperette. But guess that is a protected and secure place to put it if fuel leaks out. Thanks again.Big Tanks In the High Mountains of New Mexico- Top
