In the bottom of the jack compartm, ent on my '72 there is a drain hole. Is it supposed plugged (or even be there)? I can't find a plug for it in any of the cataloges. The ionly one I found is on that Dr. rebuild had listed but it says it is for 63-67's only. Does anyone know if it is the same plug or what size hole it fills? The hole in my car is 3/4" diameter. Thanks!!

Re: Jack compartment
Terry, the long plug is in the jack compartment too? I have the long, tapered, rubber drain plug in my battery compartment, however, I thought the jack compartment had the flat, black plastic plug, similar to those found in the door edges, firewall, etc.
My jack compartment plug is inststalled from the inside, leaving the flanged edge inside the compartment and therefore, unable to be pushed out of the hole from inside the car.Don Lowe

Re: Jack compartment
I'll have to look, but I thought the long plug was on both sides. Now that you mention it, given the large number of rusted jacks and alarm electronics we see, maybe you are right. I'll look tonight. Meantime there are others with quicker access to their cars, or even pictures on file or posted on the 'net. Check Patrick Hulst's site for his 1972.Terry- Top

Re: Jack compartment
Perhaps a picture might help. The link below is to the Doc rebuild cataloue page that had the 63-67 jack compartment drain plugs listed. It is in the center column at the bottom, it is itemm "N". Perhaps some C-2 guys can measure the drain holes in the jack compartment to determine if it is a 3/4" hole. If so this plug may also work for C-3's. Thanks!

Re: Jack compartment
My 71 one owner coupe has a Capplug (like the ones in the floor pans) in the jack compartment. The po sliced slots to drain water.
The battery compartment however, has the drain that is molded and has the cross hatch molded screen installed.

Re: Jack compartment
Sorry for the miss-information on my part -- as promised I went and looked.
Don has it exactly right and the jack compartment plug is configured like the image referred to in Lynn's link to The Doctor's web page.
Sorry I can't tell you the size of the hole, nor can I tell you if the plug listed for the mid-year application will fit. I have limited access to that side of the car -- and I really don't want to remove that plug for the first time.Terry- Top

Re: Jack compartment
I have seen Internet sites that offer a variety of plastic plugs and caps. A miriad of sizes and colors -- I just wish I could remember what I was searching for when I found them. NCRS disease, I guess.I would expect you might need to purchase a life-time supply from one of those sources, however.

Re: Jack compartment
Hi,
Here's the original plug from my 71, #6589.
That's genuine jack handle rust. I was so busy keeping my future wife's knees dry in 1971 I didn't think about the jack and handle.
