    Rust Remover?

What is a good undercarriage rust remover that will work on steel suspension and driveline parts without damaging the surrounding aluminum components?

Pete, I used Naval Jelly on all of my parts. It works well and can be purchased at any NAPA Parts Store.

I recently bought Naval Jelly at our local Lowes store. They may be cheaper than Napa. My experience with Napa is they are very expensive.

But be careful. Naval Jelly may attack aluminum - I've been told that. I would try it first on a scrap piece of aluminum. -Dan-

Someone recommended PB Blaster and a small wire brush. What think?

I think I'd use one of the commercial brands specifically for rust removal first. It would be cheaper and probably less labor intensive.

There's a bunch of home remedies containing vinegar, lemon juice, borax, and so forth. Some also use muriatic acid (dilute sulfuric). It's probably safe for aluminum, but I would'nt let it stay on the aluminum very long.

Eastwood has a new rust remover Gel. I don't know how good it is.

If you are going remove parts, try this. Don't laugh until you've tried it:
1 part molasses to 10 parts water. Let it soak, won't harm plastics, paint or other metals. If you buy feed-grade molasses, it's dirt cheap. Let parts soak a few days and be surprised. It works better than electrolysis.
