C1 Wheel Cylinders - Any still made in USA?

I visited my local Napa Auto Parts today to purchase new wheel cylinders for my 1960 and was told they only have the rears available which are made in China. I would much rather prefer to have them made in the USA. Anyone know of any? Thank you.

A lot of brake system parts for older applications have shifted "offshore". You might try Dr. Rebuild, Corvette Stainless Steel Brakes (www.cssbinc.com) or Lonestar Caliper. If none of these have US-manufactured wheel cylinders, I'd say forget it.

Just out of curiosity, why don't people hone and rebuild their original cylinders? It's just tooooooooooooooo easy and too cheap!
And if nothing else, why not send them out to be sleeved? Wheel and master cylinders are easy to save.

NOS come up online periodically as well, and generally go for about $50 each or even less. I just watched ebay over several months.

Just out of curiosity, why don't people hone and rebuild their original cylinders? It's just tooooooooooooooo easy and too cheap!
And if nothing else, why not send them out to be sleeved? Wheel and master cylinders are easy to save.

White post can sleeve and rebuild the originals if you send them the original housings. I bought an aftermarket set for my '62, then sent the old ones out for rebuild, put them on the shelf when they came back and used them (replaced all) when one of the replacements gave up the ghost (about 10 years later)

Exactly, I remember the first cylinder I rebuilt. I could'nt believe how easy it was. I rebuilt the cylinders on my 64 24 years ago and they still work fine.

Hi Bill,

The originals on my car are long gone. I wanted to put a new set on while I search for originals. I have rebuilt many in the past and for the difference in price just decided to start with new aftermarket USA made parts. Seems hard to do these days. I may just end up rebulding the aftermarket ones on the car. Thank you and everyone else for their suggestions.

The FRONT cylinders from 51-54 pass cars will interchange at the front, and the REAR cylinders from 55-64 pass cars will interchange at the rear.
These cars were built by the bazillions and are still fairly easy to locate.

I agree with honing. Then all you have on the car are rebuild kits made overseas. By the way, I replaced a brake cylinder on a car because it was so rusty that I couldn't reuse it. Cost from NAPA: 7 dollars and made in China.

Charles, if you go the rebuilding process(OH SO VERY EASY TO DO) check the bleeder screws to be sure the will move, no sense in rebuilding if the bleeders done move.
