    Correct Tire?

    Could anyone tell me if the attached pictures, if this is the correct spare that would have been on the car from the factory?

    correct for your 66? don't think so with the DOT stamping. also, doubt GM bought "seconds" for new car applications. mike

      Plus, since the TIN shown is NOT the 11 or 12-digit sequence we're familiar with, that points to this tire having been manufactured AFTER the DOT rule making went into effect (1/1/68) and BEFORE the DOT standardized the tire ID sequence (approximately 3/71).

      This would lead me to conclude that you have a 'service replacement' tire here, that's showing some age/deterioration (various cracks in the rubber surface)...
