    Tire

Can anyone tell me what tires and brand are correct for an early 66 production? I heard they were either Goodyear or Firestone; Is there anyway to check which should go on mine? Also, who has the best price on the correct tires? Thanks

    Re: Tire

Mike, if you have the '66 TIM&JG, the OEM brand tires are listed therein. Should you not have the manual, I suggest you purchase one from the NCRS on-line store. You will find a vast amount of information in the manual. I am sure a '66 owner will reply to your question regarding what is correct for the car.

    Best regards,

      Mike------

Goodyear and Firestone tires were definitely used for 1966. I believe that U.S. Royal, B.F. Goodrich, and General Tire were also used.

There is no way to know what brand/model tires were originally installed on your car unless you happen to have the original spare.

Reproductions of the Goodyear tires are available from Kelsey Tire. Reproductions of the Firestone and, possibly, B.F. Goodrich, are available from Coker Tire. Usually, the Coker offerings are a little less money than the Kelsey Goodyear reproductions, but the Goodyear reproductions are usually a little more accurate. I don't think that anyone besides Kelsey and Coker supply reproduction tires for Corvettes. You can purchase them through other vendors, but they originate from either Kelsey or Coker.

I have the original spare in my 66 which has never seen the ground, has the original stem, cap and weights and perhaps St Louis air inside. The tire is a U.S. Royal Laredo white wall and appears not to have any dry rot or other issues.

I have the original U.S. Royal unused spare in my 63 as well, but it won't touch the ground except in a true emergency.

            William, what color.
All vendors did not supply all colors.
