    Engine Pulleys

    To all,

I am building a 327/300 hp motor with P/S and no A/C. I'm trying to figure out the part #'s for the pulleys I'll need.

    Here's what I have:

    upper pulley # 1958095
    lower pulley #3849739
    P/S Pulley # 3960313

How close am I to having the correct part #'s?

    Thanks,

    Jerry

    Jerry,

If it's a 63-64 car none of the #'s sound correct. The 63-4 300hp engines W/power steering have a two groove water pump (I believe 068) and two groove crank pulley that # ends in 043 and a add on single groove pulley (crank) for the P/S.

The power steering pump used a stamped steel pulley but I can't remember #. Look in archives, I know the part #'s are there. The P/S belt runs from the crank to the P/S pump on the third groove closest to radiator..

Sorry, I left out the fact that it is a May 1963 car

        Gerald -

The '63 Assembly Manual (section L-75/L-76, sheet 2.00) calls out #3770245 2-groove water pump pulley and #3766987 2-groove crankshaft pulley, and section N40, sheet 2.00 calls out #3751232 add-on crank pulley to drive the power steering pump, with #3770509 pump pulley.

Note: The new 5th Edition '63-'64 JG says the add-on crank pulley for power steering goes behind the production pulley, but it doesn't - it goes in front of the production pulley.

          Gerald -

This pulley set is for the '65 engines and the the first belt track is not used. These are standard groove .62" center line to center line pulleys.

          Base and L75 N40 only,

          3744043 2 Groove Crank
          3751232 1 Groove Add on for P/S
          3790356 2 Groove W/P
          3770509 P/S
          3871241 Alternator

The part numbers may be different but the configuration will work.

          Mark

ABSOLUTELY! In every single case. Period. How they ever came up with the notion that the add-on pulley is installed behind the primary pulley is beyond me.
