    C2fan clutch

I have a March built 66 327-350. Should the fan clutch be dated? If so what would be a correct date? Thanks, Joe

Might get more info from the fourm search, but Schweitzer clutches were dated along the flange as I recall and eaton not, may also be different by 327 vs. 427.

Joe, My 66 L-79 has a June fan with a May date, I can check for a day if you need it.

This might help: According to the '65 TIM&JG, "earliest observed dates [on the Schweitzer clutches -- the ones with the spiral bimetallic coil] begin in mid [calendar] 1965." This would mean essentially all '66s and up with this manufacturer. [Square brackets are my additions].

Something's wrong with this descriptive text... Eaton used the bi-metal actuating coil technology while Schwitzer used a flat bi-metal rectangle to control temperature compensation...

              Joe,

FWIW, my May 5th small block's fan is dated April 22nd (If I recall correctly). I would think one to four weeks preceding your build would be appropriate.

Right-on, Jack; brain gas on my part.

Thanks for the help. Any idea of what a used one would go for? Can they be rebuilt? Thanks. Joe

The going price for a rebuild is $300 plus a one year wait.

Fred Olivia does them and been doing them for a long time but rumor has it his turn around can be a year or more. I haven't done business with the next guy but he has gotten thumbs-up from some people on this board. Vinny Catalano, Pampered Glass Corvettes, 67B Gooding Ave, Bristol, RI, 02809

Peter, I'm looking at Vinny's business card. He is at:

                            18152 Porsche Place
                            Spring Hill, Florida 34610

                            352 799 8613
                            401 339 6012

I had my clutch redone by Fred and it took 18 months. I looked at Vinny's work at the Florida Regional and the end result is closer to original appearance. I have no way to compare performance.
