    27. Never argue with the painter. If he "knows" all Corvettes had body color in the engine bay, tell him, "I know, I know; just humor me and paint it black."

    28. You will deeply regret not drawing a picture of how wiring is connected; that wiring diagram you bought is just too simplified.

    29. Bagging and labelling all that hardware means nothing when it comes back from the plated all in one box.

    30. You will buy several of the same part, thinking you need it.

      Jim:

What you say about inserting cotter pins and final torquing is correct for safety reasons. However...the "kiss of death" of having to go back, take something apart to re-assemble it correctly (adding a lock washer, or putting it back right-side up), is putting that cotter pin in that castle nut and getting it bent correctly to look just right for what you would swear is the last time.

        28. Never trust anything to memory (especially at my age)

        29. Never ass/u/me that the parts you have are from the car you are putting back together (Especially when you have parts of 3-4 cars in front of you

          31. The use of the words "minutes" and "couple dollars" are forbidden when working on your Corvette.
          32. Expect to lose ALL previous relationship/funtimes with "restorer" AND his immediate family (See #1) P.S. If you are "the in-law" expect to spend most your future holidays alone!!

            33. Never let someone else reasherch a correct part for you. Because inevitably you will become an expert in this one off item.

            34. The DB is the closest thing to a support network of fellow Corvette-ites. Infact there should be a new forum created and titled Corvettes anonomus where you can post with out your name showing up.

What your spouse refers to as a dishwasher is really a parts washer. Isn't that right Jerry Fuccillo?

                35. Never repaint over old paint, no matter what the owner tells you

                36. Yes door lock cylinders will go in two ways, only one is right

                37. Hope and pray that you do not get me to be your PV judge. My passing record is not very good.

Never tell a master level judge that you can frame-off restore one's own vintage Corvette to top flight quality in just one short year.

Four years later he may remind you of your words.......

                    Donald:

My wife actually refers to our dishwasher as the parts washer. Should have known that I wasn't the only one putting parts and tools in the dishwasher.
