Any suggestions on how to correct/restore the finish after brake fluid as gotten on body paint? Just a few small places but would like to correct if possible before Charlotte.

Re: '61 paint - brake fluid
In that case, (I know this sounds crazy) but I would first use soap and water to clean the area, then use a very soft cloth like the inside of a cut off of a sweat pants leg, and carefully wipe and polish it with a spray of WD-40. once dried, I would use some Black Magic polish and work that into the area and once dried, take a look and see if the paint seems sound enough to continue on. IF the spots are in fact gone, then I'd continue on with the polish, which I would hope would make the spots disappear. The reason I say this as opposed to using any compound made, is that you want to make sure the paint and fiberglas is in good to great shape before using something strong to remove any spots. And if in fact you don't feel the the spots are hidden enough, I'd only try a dab of 'Clear-Coat compound, with a very wet mix of product and water on the fender of where ever the spots are. You want to minimize the spots without losing what you have. And since your car is painted in lacquer and old lacquer at that you need to be extra special careful. Use plenty of water for lubrication. Even if you still have a slight mark, I'd polish it out no matter how much elbow grease it requires. I hope this is of some help. Each day is a gift, respect it, and enjoy it as if it were the last!- Top
