Frank- I just popped the lid on my 58 and it measures 38 1/8 or 38 3/16"
center to center on my pins. Hard to measure by yourself and get it exact But that is real close.

Thanks Stan, I'm having some issues installing a Coffman repo softtop. The pins on it measure 37 7/8", too short to easily drop into the windshield frame holes. My hardtop measures 38 1/4" , more like what you have on the convertible top. Is your's an original or otherwise? I realize that repos aren't the best but I'm trying to replace what my father traded away 45 yr ago.
      Thanks again.

Frank, since your car is a big brake hard top only car - suggest you do a search and read the post about hardtop only cars by Rich Mozzetta (sp?) that talks about the "Tee Nut" where the soft top frame screws into the side of the car. Welcome to the NCRS Technical Discussion Board. Gary....

Frank , yes my soft top is an original frame . I see that on my windshield top header that the passenger side alignment hole is elongated and not perfectly round like the drivers side , maybe to compensate for varaitions in soft top and hard top pins ? The elongated hole looks original , don't think Bubba made it like that. I'll go down later and measure the holes in the windshield header and see what they are .

Thanks to all who responded. With your help I was quickly able to determine that my new top frame had been "dropped" and will require a replacement.
              Thanks again.
