61 matching numbers

Looking at a '61 that has correct casting and stamp numbers, but how does one know it hasn't been restamped? Relatively new to Corvette hobby, but understand restamping is done. I am sure cast number must
be original but not sure how to tell if engine has been restamped. Car
has had body-off restoration and engine and frame look perfect.

Bill, if you are not comfortable looking at a car you are contemplating purchasing, I suggest you contact your local chapter and find someone that can assist you, or hire someone to inspect the car for you. There are a lot of honest sellers out there, and there are a few who are less than honest

Follow Dick's advice - an NCRS member with experience can usually spot modifications. No guarantees, but they know what to look for and where to find it! Don't be afraid to part with a few dollars to get help - info now could save you thousands later. This advice is from personal experience!
