    Big block ID number deciphering

The block is a 454 with a casting number of 14015445.
On the front right area of the head surface ( ID pad ) is the following alpha-numeric data; GM43994504RH. Does anyone have an idea as to what this designates?

    I believe that is a 75 to 87 truck block. 454.

      Tom,
I thought that the ID pad contained info as to the plant that built the motor and the last six digits of the VIN.

John might chime in and decipher that stamp for you. I don't have that info.

Even crate engines should have the typical engine ass'y code that we're used to seeing. Does the pad look like an original or is it possibly a rebuilder's stamp?

I will take a closer look to see if it is a possible restamp. Wayne

              Wayne -

Take a close-up hi-res photo of the pad and post it so we can take a look at it. The pad is on the block, not on the cylinder head. If what you posted is indeed stamped on the block pad, it's not typical.
