My enclosed car trailer has built in d-rings with a dove tail too. However the rear d-rings are way to far back when I haul a C4. So, Im thinking of using an E-track perhaps. Thats my questions, has anyone every used the e-track set up and would this be the best way to go? What about installation? Thanks dwf

Re: Question for anyone who trailers their car.
However, an awful lot of it seems to be held down with either lag bolts or sheet metal screws anchored into nothing more than floor wood. That just seems so very wrong.
So, I'll stick with my D-rings which are bolted to brackets welded to the trailer frame.
In your situation if need be, you could buy longer tie down straps.

Re: Question for anyone who trailers their car.
Doug,
My trailer also has the "D" rings far back. I have a two foot length of chain with the screw down links to allow using my standard length straps on both rears. Remember to mantain the X cross to keep the car in the center.- Top

Re: Question for anyone who trailers their car.
i have a 20' pace car hauler. i also have a c4 i tow in it. i use the rings in the floor to tie mine down. to keep the ballance right the car goes almost all the way to the back. about 5" from the back door. I pull the car in and hook up the front first with the car about 5 " back to far, even with the door. i then hook up the back straps to the rear suspension. i take the car out of gear and use the front straps to pull the car forward until its tight. put the car back in gear and close the door. i put a tape line on the wall that shows me where to stop depending on which car i am in. works well with a balanced, level trailer.- Top

Re: Question for anyone who trailers their car.
I center the wheelbase of the car over the midpoint between the two trailer axles. Since the front of the car is slightly heavier than the rear, this does nothing to lessen the tongue weight.
The byproduct is two fold:
1. My car is very near the trailer door which leaves a lot of storage room in front.
2. The trailer tows easily and without porpoising.
