1967 Marina Blue paint code 976 Questions

My brothers 67 Maria Blue Corvette is ready for paint. We would like to get the color to match as close as possible. A Corvette shop in our area said that he painted an 67 last year and had to go back several times to get the correct shade and color. He did not have the final formula to copy. He suggested to post the question here and find out what other Corvette owners have done to get the correct color.
I understand that the metallics in the paint are now a different shape in todays formuls. Base coat / clear coat will probally be they way we go , but I would not rule out lacquer either.
I 've looked at some old post and I know that there are some really good paint guys in NCRS so could you please help us?

I can't help with an answer to this one, but I'm always interested to learn about paint, more so as I get closer to that point myself. Hopefully someone who has experience with Marina blue paint will reply.

Hey Tim -- (off topic); how's my old (now your origial) '67 3.36 diff doing ? Still have the car ? I miss those "reasonable" gears .

Yes I still have the car and the 3:36 gears are a pleasure to drive with.

I have been working on my 65 396 detailing the engine compartment.

Also when I have the time I help my brother with his 67 nut & bolt restoration. He is ready to paint the car and we would like to get the color correct.

How are your 65's doing?

Tim -- All I have on '67s is the refinish paint codes (from Sept.-Oct Chevrolet Service News); your paint guy probably already has these.

Corvette code 976, Marina Blue, uses Ditzler 13364, or Rinshed-Mason A-1920, or Dupont 4850-L. Have the hood stripe codes as well, but black is black .

BTW, welcome to the 396 fellowship. Promised myself that I'd drive them more this year, but so far I just tinker around.
