'63-66 steering wheel install on shaft (upper)

'63-4 and '65-6 standard steering (non-tele). I notice the '65 AIM notes "mark on hub assy. must be in line with mark on shaft" [UPC 9, Sht 5].

Without going to the trouble of removing the hub to verify, is it possible to install hub one or more spline positions off the marks ?

Wayne, you can install the stering wheel at any spline position, don,t forget though the center steering markings is to keep everything on center, when the car is assy'd, as in the steering coupling , steering box centering, and front end alignments.

Edward -- are these the index marks ? The one on the hub is evident, but not sure about that small line on the shaft. If those are them, would you say I'm off one spline ?

Those are the index marks (off by one spline), and it's probably as close to correct as the plant ever got them.
