Could someone tell me what the number 8 on the Vacuum advance is for? I have included two pictures from original 435 cars. It appears that they were even written by the same person.

Thanks, Bill -- was always wondering what that writing was on my (almost) NOS 1111296, 8_B_26; 1968 L71 435hp [top distrib in pic]. It looked like the letter "Q" to me, but now I can see the bottom loop.
