1958 Corvette Speaker Question

Hi Guys,

I've seen some 58 Corvettes with the speaker bezel that covers the perimeter of the speaker opening in the dash and the speaker screen. Then I have seen some cars without the speaker bezel and just the speaker screen in the dash pad. Which is correct?

Dave, a post from last Nov. indicates no bezel on '58. Search 1958 radio.

Thanks for that tip. I found a few threads that said no 58 - 59 ever got a speaker bezel. My next question is if this is true, how does the speaker grille and speaker itself stay in place?

David, there are 4 'T' bolts resined into the perimeter of the dash fiberglass pointing downward, see AIM for details. The spreaker and grill are inserted from bottom and drawn up into the opening.

I believe that you find the "running change" adding the bezel occurs sometime in 1959.
Also, unless the pads have been changed, you will find that the speaker does not install level with the pad without changes in the means of attachment.
