It was suggested to me to wash the car wax out of the front crossed flags with a soft tooth brush and Joy soap. Then some small pieces of the black and white paint on the crossed flags let go after 43 years. Is there anyone who restores these originals? Advise please and not to rewash it. Thank you Dale

Re: 1967 Corvette
Dale;
It used to be, at least back in the 70's, these were relatively inexpensive items. I bought several sets because their quality varied (perhaps seconds) back then, and used the best ones. I always clean using just a detail brush and clean wipe cloth. The only washing they got was during a full car wash with car soap. I'm certain, however, they can be repainted using a high degree of patience, and possibly some thinner on a pointed stick to take off any overlap onto the chrome where it is not wanted. I did my 63 hood screens that way long ago and they turned out better than new, and remain that way today. The only question would be what paint to use and whether you want to touch up (not the best) or re-do completely.- Top

Re: 1967 Corvette
Back in the sixties I took all the emblems off for the SWC's annual wax job. It's easy to do. To remove the rear "Corvette Stingray" emblem you have to remove the rear valence and maybe the spare tire tub. I can't remember.
With the emblems off there's no wax residue to get caught in the nooks and cranies, and it's easier to clean and repaint the emblems on the bench.

Re: 1967 Corvette
Dale,
Take a look at this thread for the right color red for the 67 gas lid emblem:

Chrysler Colorado Red Touch-up paint was the best I found.
I think the front emblem is the same.Jerry Fuccillo

Re: 1967 Corvette
Has anyone compared the older GM NOS nose emblems in the light blue & white GM boxes to known originals?- Top

Re: 1967 Corvette
Along these lines, what are the differences between originals and the ones offered today by vendors? I thought some of the pieces made by Trim Parts looked pretty good but didn't have an original to compare with, just pictures.- Top
