Numbers on Trim tag

Hello
Can anyone tell me what the Characters A-652 mean above the paint code on my trim tag? I know that A stands for Ao smith body but dont know what the numbers mean. Any help would be appreciated. 65 coupe Nassau Blue and Black Vinyl.

Based on your recital it would mean that your car was the 652nd coupe body built by AO Smith in the '65 model year.

And being an A.O. Smith car, it couldn't have come with side exhaust.

For AO Smith bodies only, I believe that "A" stands for coupe, and "B" convertible. This suffix may or may not show up. This is the same place where the ECL code is found for St. Louis bodies.

Bill -- where are you getting this Nov 20th build ? From a birthday calculator with the VIN ? From the trim tag date code (upper left hand corner) ?

All I have for early A-body coupes is:
A-245 with B14 (upper left); A-507 with C13 (apparently some C's exist, in spite of the strike at St.Louis).

Can you feed us a little more ?

Wayne it is D 20 upper left of trim tag and vin ends 03259

It's beginning to sound like you'd better give us all of the trim tag information. Is the VIN 194375S103259? That would be for a car built November 27-30, 1964, which fits with the D20 body code.

Everything comes together for me but WDIK. As the owner of cars made during this period, Bill, you will learn to start the story with "Well, of course you know about the steel strike in October 1964.......". Enjoy it.

Hello Loren,
Well I also own a 69 T top made June 69 which I think was around a strike as well it is 22,483 but not sure of the build date. And then I also have an Early 68 which is full of strange parts as well. SO I am quite used to strange stories about all my cars.

Well the previous owner thought that a corvette is not a corvette without sidepipes so it has them. He gone now so in his memory I guess Ill leave them on until they make me crazy!
