Re: 62 Turn Signal Flashers
AIM calls for GM part numbers 3758682 or 683, I'm desperately trying to find a matrix of those part numbers to manufacturer's numbers, but haven't found it yet. I knoe it's here, just haven't looked at it for a couple of years.Bill Clupper #618- Top

Re: 62 Turn Signal Flashers
I don't believe the current JG says much, but the part numbers in the AIM are the same parts as used in '63. If I find my cross reference ...! Current '63 JG indicates AP373V tung Sol or Signal Stat 143 for 1963, which would make them good candidates for '62 also. Need to check a '61 aim to see if P/N stayed the same 61-62. Re: 62 Turn Signal Flashers
The '61 AIM calls out three flashers:
3758682
3758683
3783020
On the AP373 there were several packaging alternatives and the 'V' suffix that's defined in the '63 JG book points to the low profile, 'short' can version of the flasher...- Top

Re: 62 Turn Signal Flashers
62 Flasher Gurus - You guys are the "best." Based on your information I checked my 67 Chev P&A and p/n 3758682 is listed
61-63 CORV (exc. back-up lamp) 3758682 (3-bulb)
so I checked in my parts department and I had a black & yellow box labeled GM GENUINE PARTS
FLASHER
GROUP NO. 2.892
1-PART NO.
3758682
and in it was SIGNAL-STAT ZN332-12V FLASHER.
Thanks for your help. Pete- Top

Re: 62 Turn Signal Flashers
Pete,
I believe GM used the same part number 3758682 for two different vendors. My 1963 Chevrolet parts catalog (effective Oct. 1962) and my 1967 Chevrolet parts catalog (effective July 1967) describe GM # 3758682 as "FLASHER, controls 3 bulbs only (AP373V)" for 61-63 Corvettes as well as other models. I have had many NOS Tung-Sol AP373V flashers in my collection and still have a few left.
I assume the Tung-Sol AP373V flasher is equivalent to the Signal Stat ZN332 flasher based on your NOS flasher in the GM black & yellow box.
Does this mean that the Signal Stat 143 flasher is GM # 3758683 as shown in the 63 assembly manual?

Re: 62 Turn Signal Flashers
I have about 10 NOS Tung-Sol AP373S flashers in red & yellow boxes. The boxes are labeled "Chev. 59 - Pont. 58". The flasher "can" length measures 1.00" while my NOS AP373V flashers measure 0.87".
I assume the AP373S flashers were installed in 1959 Chevrolets and then replaced with the AP373V in later years. I no longer have my older 1958-1962 Chevrolet parts catalogs so I can not do research on the AP373S flasher. I do have a copy of the page with GR. 2.892 from the 1960 Chevrolet parts catalog and it lists GM # 3758682 (AP373V) as a replacement flasher for the 59 Chev.

Re: 62 Turn Signal Flashers
Pete, reviewing P&A's group 2.892, came to an uneducated guess that signal flashers which part numbers start with a "2" such as ZN232 will control 2 bulbs, while the flashers part numbers that start with a "3" such as ZN332/AP373V control 3 bulbs. Gary....NCRS Texas Chapter

Re: 62 Turn Signal Flashers
Hum, it's my recollection that GM's TS flasher 'headquarters' in those days was the Oldsmobile Division. Further, instead of binning like vendor's parts under a common PN, they released unique PN's for each qualified vendor which is why we see the AIM books calling out two or more PN's for each car.
Service didn't always stock all the different PN's and the 'Notes' column that describes a given flasher can be generic and NOT applicable to the specific PN that's described. The BW to tell which is which is to capture an NOS part in the box by PN and see what's inside...- Top

Re: 62 Turn Signal Flashers
Pete,
I just purchased 2 NOS GM flashers in gold/black boxes. Both are GM part # 3758682 in Gr. 2.892 correct for 61-63 Corvette as well as other models.
One is a Signal Stat ZN332 dated "S2162" (21st week of 1962 in a box dated Feb. 1962).
The other is a Signal Stat 143 dated "S2562" (25th week of 1962) in a box dated April 1962 in a box dated Feb. 1962.
Enclosed is a picture.
Apparently GM used part # 3758682 for the Signal Stat ZN332, Signal Stat 143, and Tung Sol AP373V flashers.
