I have a need for a new NOS serpentine belt tensioner. I called Whites Racing in Florida, he did not have one. I could do with a rebuilt original, one that has very low mileage, or a new NOS part. It's like finding hens teeth. Anyone that might give me a lead, would be greatly appreciated.

Re: 93 ZR-1 Obscure part location
Ed,
The first place I went to was NAPA. They had my belt (Gates), which I replaced today. But they dod not have the tensioner for the ZR-1. They do have one for the LT-1, not the LT-5 motor. This is going to take a lot of investigation, phone and e-mail I'm thinking. Buy the way, for any one that has an original belt on their LT-5 replace it soon. Mine only had 34K miles and it was cracked very bad from age (17 years old). I am stocking up on hoses and other rubber parts, as they are becoming very rare, almost as rare as the LT-5 motor.- Top

Re: 93 ZR-1 Obscure part location
Ed, I wonder if the gates or dayco companys have a cust. service tech line that could maybe help you in your quest to either have the one, Or can fix yours, or maybe a part no. that may cross ref. to ZR1 engine tensioner.hmmmm? might take a little telephone time.
There was a recent post about getting C-4 parts. and alot was specific to the ZR1 cars and electronic parts in general.as the cars are getting older someone will start reproducing those hard parts that no one has anymore.
It sure seems a shame that high wear parts like a tensioner is not avail. anywhere. Is there a part no. you have, Maybe Joe L. could help.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top

Advance Auto shows one on their website, Dayco 89003.
Rock Auto also shows some items.
I don't guarantee anything, but it's a couple of leads to follow.

Re: 93 ZR-1 Obscure part location
Jim,
It is not the pulley, that is fine, it does not make any odd sounds. It is the spring in the tensioner itself. I just found a company in Ft. Lauderdale Fl. that specializes in LT-5 obscure parts. And he has an NOS, serpintine belt tensioner, complete. The price is reasonable. The company is Corvette Partsman, and the site is corvettepartsman.com, for those that might need something for their LT-5 motor. They even had an original NOS radiator cap and a clutch, pressure plate, pilot bearing, and throw out bearing unit, all NOS. That is very rare. I am buying one of each.- Top

The GM part number was 10067479. However, it's discontinued without supercession. This piece is applicable to all 1990-95 LT5 engine applications. I cannot find any aftermarket source for the complete tensioner. Only the pulley seems to be available. This seems strange because about 50% or more of the time, what's needed is the complete tensioner, not just the pulley.
So, if you found a source that has NOS tensioners for a reasonable price, jump on it.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
