      Hi Alan,
The new Judging Manual says all 57 cars after approximately Vin #1500 should have the turn signal flasher mounted on the cowl vent bracket.
I will post pictures of the flasher bracket from my car Vin # 4713.
This should help you to know what to look for. I do not know if it is reproduced.
      Hope this helps
      Dave

Actually if I remember right, it's the electrical connector to the flasher that is held by the clip. The flasher itself is held in place by it's electrical connector.

                      Hi Bruce,
You might try Mary Jo Rohner (858)451-1933

I'm pretty sure from my 55-57 Chevy restoration days that the part you seek was also used in passenger cars. It looks way too familiar.

Yes, it's called out as GM No. 3724756. But, searching the various Parts & Accessories Catalogs from the era comes up dry on that PN. The P&A catalogs call out PN 3712856 for the service replacement flasher clip which is an earlier released number. What the difference is, if any, has me...

BTW, the later PN shows up as being applicable to the full range of Chevy cars throughout the '55-58 era. So, it shouldn't be hard to find a used original sitting in a scarp yard car.

On the flasher, the AIM calls out a factory choice of two PN's for '57 (3713382 or 3748737) with a release note that the 3748737 was PN 3715248 previously.

The 3713382 is the flasher that was carried by service in the P&A catalog which they footnote as being a Signal Stat ZN232. The optional part may be either a Tung Sol AP273 or AP273V. The difference is the 'V' suffix version comes in a 'short' can vs. the 'tall' can shown in a prior post in this thread.

                              Point of interest:

It looks like there was a manufacturer part substitution against the GM flasher numbers by Signal Stat circa 1963.

Early boxes of 3713382 contain a Signal Stat ZN323 flasher while later service boxes house a Signal Stat 142. Both are rated for 2-lamp drive with Number 1034 lamps.

The same goes for the 3-lamp parts, GM 3758682. Expect to find early boxes with Signal Stat ZN332 flashers and later era packaging with Signal Stat 143 devices.

My guess is Signal Stat made a running change, either for cost or performance reasons, and substituted later era parts for their earlier flasher models under the same GM part number...
