Correct 1962 Rocker panel Mounting Retainers

    May 31, 1962 Built vette.

The AIM shows that the retainers used to hold the rocker panels are one long strip mounted under the doors, however, on my car I have 4 smaller black section retainers- See the pic.

Is this correct, or did a previous owner change something?

Also, on the screw/nut assembly that mounts the lower edge to the car, should the small lock washers be copper?

    Thanks,

    Tony

Those look like someone took a full length strip and just cut out the short sections to mount on the car, makes it easier to put the covers on, but not really "original" assuming someone sees them once the panel is on.

Thank you. That makes sense. It was that just all 4 pieces are cut nice and smooth along the edges, and "exactly" the same lengths.
